Summer Educational Field Trips

Objective:

Watt Farms Country Market tour guides will provide an enjoyable and educational tour, especially designed for children K-4th grade. Children will be given age-appropriate lessons on pollination, honey-making, fruit growing and fruit handling. This tour gives children an opportunity to learn while having a good time.

Program: The children will:
1. Enjoy a ride through our 100 acre orchard on our 90 foot train! This narrated journey will teach them how we prepare the fruit we harvest.
2. Pick fresh fruit.
3. Visit our farm animals
4. Play in our playground
5. Have the opportunity to picnic after your tour.

Time:

Tours are offered Monday through Friday, July through August.

Take Home:

*Fruit they have picked
*Knowledge about how fruit grows and the workings of an orchard
* Lots of great memories!

Price:

$5.00 for each person (student and parent). There is no charge for teachers or PAID school staff (2 per class). $150 minimum group charge.

Lunch:

You are welcome to bring a bagged lunch, there are picnic tables under the train station and this lunchtime has been allotted in your tour.

We will be glad to prepare a hot dog, chips and drink lunch for $3.50 each.

Please let us know which option you would like to choose 3-4 days before your visit.

Ice Cream:

Kiddie ice cream cones are available for $1 each. The choices are Vanilla, Twist or Chocolate. Sprinkles are on us! We will supply you a bowl of sprinkles at the outside window that you can add to each cone.

Weather:

Weather always varies, so it's best to have the children dress in layers. There are no weather related refunds.

Cancellations:

If it is necessary to cancel your scheduled tour, we would appreciate your cooperation in giving us as much notice as possible, but at least 2 weeks notice, so that we may fill your appointment time.

DIRECTIONS TO WATT FARMS COUNTRY MARKET

Location: We are located 1½ miles north of Albion, NY on Rt. 98 between Rt. 104 and Rt. 31.

From Buffalo and West: Take I-90 East to Exit 48 (Batavia). Turn right onto Rt. 98 and continue north approximately 17 miles through the village of Albion, over the canal bridge and we are on the right about 1 mile north of the village.

From Lockport or Niagara Falls: Take Route 104 East to Route 98. Turn right and we are about 2 miles south on the east (left) side of Route 98.

From Hilton, Rochester North: Head West on the Lake Ontario Parkway, Rt. 18, or Rt. 104. Turn south (left) onto Rt. 98 and continue about 2 miles south of Rt. 104 on the east (left ) side.

From East and South of Rochester: Take I-90 West to Exit 48 (Batavia), turn right onto Rt. 98 and continue north through the village of Albion, over the canal bridge, and we are on the right about 1 mile north of the village.

Orchard Tours are also available during Spring & Fall -just call us! The Orchard Express Train runs every Saturday and Sunday 1 to 4.
